Privacy Commitment

Merit Nova Scotia Construction Job Store (henceforth known as The Website) and its parent and associated companies collects personally identifying information about you only when you specifically and knowingly provide it to us. We recognize that privacy issues are an important concern, and firmly believe that you should know exactly what personally identifying information we collect and how we're going to use it before you share it with us.

Whether we are communicating with you online or in person, we never release personal information, such as your name, address, or contact information, to any client, vendor, or third party, outside of The Website and its associated companies, without your prior consent.

Your personally identifying information will be used to personalize your experience with The Website or for such other purposes as are described at any point where The website collects this information from you.

The Website may make aggregate information about our clients (e.g. overall statistics) available to third parties for promoting the effectiveness of The Website for employers and seekers. Information that personally identifies you will be kept strictly confidential.

Personally identifying information that you choose to provide to another party or website will be subject to their privacy policy. For example, if you provide personally identifying information to a website linked to The Website in the Resources section, information you provide to that website is subject to their privacy policy rather than ours.

Personally Identifying Information

"Personally identifying information" is information that can be explicitly used to identify and/or contact you as an individual. This includes information like your name and e-mail address. Information that, by itself, cannot be explicitly linked with your "real" identity is not considered personally identifying.

Security of Your Information

Personal information collected is stored in password-controlled servers with limited access. When passing personal information - such as name, telephone number, credit card number, etc. - over the Internet, this data is protected through the use of encryption, specifically Secure Sockets Layer technology. SSL is the industry-standard method for protecting Internet communications. The SSL security protocol provides data encryption, server authentication, and message integrity.

Perfect security on the Internet, however, does not yet exist and we cannot warrant that our transfer of data is impenetrable or invulnerable to hackers.

Use of Cookies

Cookies are a feature of your web browser that allows websites to transfer bits of information to your computer for record-keeping purposes. You may be able to set your web browser to notify you when you receive a cookie or to not accept cookies at all. A cookie stored on your computer can be used to "remember" things that will improve the efficiency of your online experience.

A cookie is not a piece of code and cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer.

The Website uses cookies on its websites to help us publish content relevant to our customer's needs and wants, allowing us to serve our customers better.

The Website has two primary uses for its cookies. First, we use them to specify unique preferences. Secondly, we use cookies to track user trends and patterns. This helps us better understand and improve areas of The Website service that our users find valuable. While both of these activities depend on the use of a "cookie", visitors to The Website always have the option of disabling cookies via their browser preferences.

Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, note that some parts of The Website service may not function properly if you refuse cookies.

Ordering Information

When you engage in activities on The Website like ordering or registering for information, or requesting newsletters, we may ask you to provide us with information. Information we ask you to provide when purchasing or ordering will only be the information necessary to process your purchase or request. When filling an order we will ask for your name, email address, address (for shipping and credit card authentication purposes), telephone number and credit card number, type and expiration date. We will use this information only for matters related to your order unless you request otherwise. Your credit card information will be maintained only for a period reasonably necessary to ensure payment has been received.

Additional information we may ask you to provide when choosing to engage in other activities on our website or within our products may include name, mailing address, telephone number, facsimile numbers, email address, and other demographic information that will enable us to better understand the requirements of our customers and to continue to provide high quality products and service. This information request will be optional and required only to engage in certain activities.

Links to Other Sites

Users should be aware that when you are on The Website, you could be directed to other sites that are beyond our control. There are links to other sites from The Website pages that take you outside our service. For example, if you "click" on a link in our Resources section, the "click" takes you off The Website. These other sites may send their own cookies to users, collect data or solicit personal information. Always be aware of where you end up!

The Website policy does not extend to anything that is inherent in the operation of the Internet, and therefore beyond The Website's control, and is not to be applied in any manner contrary to applicable law or governmental regulation.

Password Protection

Portions of our website are password protected to help safeguard user information. A password chosen by the user provides access to the site.

As employer or seeker customers of The Website, users have access to their own information, information about job postings (employers) and positions (seekers), plus additional information and tools.

The Website reserves the right to change passwords at any time to protect the security of our site. We require that you keep confidential the password you select for accessing our site. We require that you email us immediately at customerservice@The Website if you feel that your password has been compromised. If you forget your password, you may request a reminder from www.The Website or you may email us at customerservice@The Website and we will issue a reminder of your password via email.

E-Mail to us

When you send us e-mail, we will use your name and e-mail address only to respond to the concerns you write to us with. Your e-mail may be shared with appropriate people within The Website organization to help us respond to your concerns and improve The website. We will not sell, distribute or make available your email address to third parties outside of The Website and its associated companies without your explicit permission.

Choice/Opt-Out

Our site provides users the opportunity to opt-in to receiving newsletters and communications from us at the point where we request the user to register. Registered users provide a Login ID and Password which allows the user to update their profile information, change preferences, and change the opt-in/out options of the newsletter and all other communications.

Policy

From time to time, The Website may introduce new products and services to its users and members. The Website reserves the right to modify this policy at any time by notifying customers, via The Website, of a new privacy policy.
